Dayton City Commission Approves Sustainability Project

February 13, 2013              Businesses to Grow Facilities, Jobs in Dayton  Two businesses will invest in new and expanded facilities in Dayton, following approval of development agreements by the Dayton City Commission.

Vaughn Interior Concepts will make extensive renovations and enhancements at a recently acquired building at 140 N. Keowee St. The Dayton-based designer and maker of custom commercial and residential interior solutions is investing approximately $1 million in the new facility, including energy-saving lighting, roofing and insulation. Vaughn is expected to add up to six jobs to its existing staff of 13. The City of Dayton is supporting the expansion with an $80,000 sustainability grant from its Energy Efficiency fund.

Malt Products Corporation will expand its facility near Dayton’s Northwest Industrial Park and build a state-of-the-art, 70,000-sq.-ft. malt extract plant, adding 30 or more jobs to its existing local workforce of 35. The company’s $26 million investment will double its domestic production capacity of sweeteners used in the baking industry. The City of Dayton is supporting the company’s growth through a $400,000 grant provided by the Montgomery County ED/GE program.
